Services: Noise Control Designs
Noise controls are designed to achieve a design noise reduction at nominated locations, either close for occupational noise limits or distant for environmental or community noise limits. Noise control designs may be certified by noise level measurements to confirm the as-constructed noise reduction.
Noise design may include noise modelling and specification of equipment sound power levels for a whole plant so that an overall design noise level is achieved.
Noise designs for specific noise sources may be provided using the following methods of noise control:
- Noise Barriers:
Determination of location, height, length and construction materials and methods for transportation noise (road and rail) and mechanical plant (shopping centres and commercial premises, industrial and processing sites). - Equipment Enclosures:
Determination of acoustic specifications for both large and small enclosures, including dimensions, sealing of penetrations, construction materials and methods, ventilation, personnel access, maintenance requirements and vibration isolation. - Personnel Enclosures:
Determination of cabin enclosure materials and constructions, including vibration isolation and ventilation, for operators of mobile equipment, industrial plant, audiometric booths, or media studios and control rooms. - Lagging/Wrapping:
Determination of material specifications, thickness and extent of treatments. - Silencers:
Determination of silencer acoustic specifications, dimensions and pressure loss. Selection of off-the-shelf attenuators or custom designs for special applications. Absorptive and resonators types. - Structural Modifications:
Determination of structural modifications for panels and structures that are the source of structure-borne noise radiation in marine, transport vehicles and building environments. - Building Design:
Determination of building envelope materials and constructions to achieve design noise and vibration isolation requirements from external environmental noise sources, noise and vibration isolation between adjacent indoor spaces (eg cinemas), or for personnel control rooms within industrial, mining or processing facilities.
