Services: Ground Vibration and Overpressure Assessment
- Ground vibration and blast overpressure levels may be measured to:
- Monitor compliance with Development Conditions or Environmental License requirements for tunnelling, blasting, demolition, piling and compacting
- Investigate complaints of excessive vibration, windows rattling or structural damage.
- Investigate whether ground vibration levels exceed criteria for human (or animal) comfort or structural damage.
- Measure ground vibration to determine localised transmissibility or vibration through the ground (i.e. site transmissibility laws) to enable suitable control or design of blasting or impactive sources
Savery & Associates provides the following Ground Vibration and Overpressure Assessment services:
- Determination of site based ground vibration and overpressure propagation laws for blasting or piling operations using multiple loggers and geophones.
- Assessment of ground vibration criteria and severity for piling or blasting.
- Assessment of the effects of Ground Vibration on:
- pipe lines
- turbo-machinery and process plant
- sensitive scientific instruments
- historic buildings
- sensitive weighing machines
- commercial, educational, medical and residential buildings
- chicken hatcheries & other contained livestock, and native fauna
- Assessment of Ground Vibration and Overpressure due to:
- building construction (piling and compaction)
- road and rail traffic, including hualage trucks and diesel locomotives
- military aircraft operations, including bombing activities
- military armaments, including artillery
- tunnelling, quarrying and mining
